Subscribers of Globacom has ranked the telecommunication company the most useless as its Abuja base station's shut down by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) enters the third day.

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has on Thursday December 22, 2021, shut down the Globacom (Glo) facility in Wuse 2 Abuja over a N4.7bn debt.

The exercise was led by the director-general of the NCAA, Capt. Musa Nuhu, and was supervised by the Minister of Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika.

The DG said the shutdown will continue on a number of Glo’s Main Switch Centres (MSC) accros the country until the telecom company commits to a payment schedule.

A cross section of its subscribers who speaks with Omonaijablog correspondent in Abuja agreed that, the telecommunication company needs a total revamp and a change its leadership. They submitted despite the enormous subscribers the telecommunication enjoys, they are owning an amount that has no record of what it was used for.

Glo was founded on 29 August 2003 by Nigerian businessman Mike Adenuga, employing over 3,500 people worldwide. It has over 45 million subscribers (December 2018), making it the second largest network operator in Nigeria.

In 2011, GLO became the first telecommunication company to build an $800 million high-capacity fibre-optic cable known as Glo-1, a submarine cable from the United Kingdom to Nigeria.

Despite its infrastructure investment claims, subscribers appear persistently dissatisfied with its persistent poor services.
