Battle of the Chukwumas: Who is APGA’s Candidate for 2021 Anambra State Governorship Election? ~Omonaijablog

Till now, the list being circulated by a section of the media and Soludo's team is no where to be found on both INEC website and official news channels of the Commission. It's even more funny that Soludo and his sympatizers are relying on the media who published same photocopy document purportedly signed by the Secretary of the commission to believe that INEC has indeed recognized him as APGA's Candidate.

It is important to note that INEC website, social media channels and other official news channels of the Commission remain the only verifiable source of any information from the Commission and since the photocopy document that listed Soludo as APGA’s Candidate is no where to be found at all official communication channels of the Commission, it is suicidal for Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo to be rejoicing and relying on the media to parade himself as the Candidate of APGA.
Another thing to note is that the previous release from INEC that listed the Candidates for the Anambra Governorship Election and other press releases from the Commission were signed by the Commission's National Commissioner & Chairman Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye Esq and not by the Commission’s Secretary as seen in the photocopy document being circulated by a section of the Media and Soludo's team. Also, it is doubtful that two different officials of INEC will sign a Press Release from the Commission. The possibility of the Commission’s National Commissioner on Information and its Secretary signing same release is doubtful.

A major problem with the Nigerian Media is that most of them are always quick to report a story or publish a document forwarded to them by the public without making necessary enquiry to authenticate such. It's also sad that some section of the media even rely on stories from whatsapp groups and social media to make news not minding if such is true or not. Prof. Soludo and his team should know that same media they are relying on will be the first to report otherwise if INEC decides to come up and deny ownership of the photocopy document that is in circulation.

The verifiable information from INEC is that it has been served the Appeal Court Judgement that is related to APGA’s leadership and Candidacy in Anambra and that the Commission will publish the final list of Candidates on October 7, 2021. The Commission also through its Press Release dulely signed by its National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye Esq disclosed that 11 Political Parties made substitutions and that the list of SUBSTITUTE CANDIDATES was attached to its release. Anyone believing any other information outside the ones verifiable is on his or her own.

Instead of jubilating over an unverifiable document, Prof. Soludo and his team should wait till October to know their true stand or urge INEC to make a clear statement on the present APGA Candidate for the 2021 Anambra State Governorship election.
