Rotary Club Of Maryland Commissions Borehole Water, Toilet Facilities, Other Projects – Donates School Kits To School

As part of efforts aimed at contributing its quota to the development of education in the country, the President of Rotary Club of Maryland, Ikeja, District 9110, Rotn. Obafemi Obadina has been motivated by the need to deliver in his areas of concentration. 

The projects, Wednesday, March 31, 2021, officially commissioned by the District Governor, Rotn. Bola Oyebade in the school premises is aimed at encouraging good health and well-being among students and staff of the school. 

The schemes which includes: Borehole Water/Toilet facility and donation of School kits {branded bags and various writing materials} to pupils of Community Primary School, Wasimi, Maryland, Lagos. Furthermore, constructed Incinerator; to ensure proper waste management and disposal within the community, Rehabilitated Water/Toilet facility at Cane village, Maryland were among the bespoke projects.
Speaking at the commissioning, the District Governor, Rotn. Bola Oyebade, explained that the collaborative initiative was designed to raise the awareness on the importance of education and literacy, water, sanitation and hygienic conduct among students, as part of a healthy and active lifestyle.

“It will encourage good health and well-being among students, staff and others, as well as reduce tiredness, irritability and distraction that could emanate from stress of going out of school compound to fetch water,” he said.

Commending the initiative, the education secretary, Dr. Priscilla Okeleke, who represented the education authority, Ikeja Local Government, Hon. Akeem Amosu Abolore appreciated Rotary Club for providing borehole water/toilet facility and especially, donating school kits {branded bags and various writing materials} to the pupils.
 “We are delighted for these highly needed bequests to the pupils and note this; parents would be in joyous mood espying the school kits Rotary Club distributed to their children; these would definitely serve as part of palliatives to cushion the economic effect of the covid-19, as some parents are already finding it difficult to provide even ‘notebooks’ for their children,” she said.
