Kwara Hijab Crisis: How Unknown Men Removed, Took Away Locked School Gates In Ilorin ~Omonaijablog

The scene of the C&S College, Sabo-oke, where hoodlums removed its gate.

Some unknown hoodlums have allegedly invaded the entrance of C&S College, Sabo-oke and Bishop Smith Memorial College, Offa Garage Road, Ilorin, removed their gates and took them away even as the controversy over the use of hijab in some Kwara State schools rages on.

While narrating how it all happened via a telephone interview this afternoon, one of the leaders of C&S College, Sabo-oke, Apostle Salako Ayodele, told me; "This was what happened early this morning March 24, 2021 around 1:00am this morning, some yet to be identified men invaded the entrance of C&S College, Sabo-oke and Bishop Smith Memorial College, Offa Garage Road, Ilorin, schools and removed the gates and took them away."

"They came in the tick of the night to perpetrate evil and it baffles all. We are not saying Hijabites should not come to school, in fact, that was why we opened the small gate. But our stand is that you can't wear it within the school premises. If you want to enter the school its free as a student but, you can't enter with your Hijab."

"So, who are these people who are coming to destroy this private properties. There's tension around the area now, it may become what the State Government may not be able to bear at the long run. People have been watching over the school during the day, maybe that was why they came at night to remove those main gates."

"Despite the fact that the Kwara State Government made a broadcast yesterday that there's maximum security in the affected schools, but this people came at night to carry out this nefarious activities."

"We still maintained he position of the school and the church authority; that there will be no wearing of Hijab within the school premises. Although as at yesterday the leader of the church agreed that the small gate should be opened and it was.

But around 1am some unknown men came around and removed the gate and that of Bishop Smiths Memorial School."

Before now, at the Cherubim and Seraphim College at Sabo Oke, many members of the church do occupied the front of the school with a truckload of sand heaped at the entrance of the college watching. A banner with the inscription “Our school is our heritage. We say NO to hijab” also hung from the gate.

This has been going on daily until the small section of the gate was opened. But just yesterday night, these yet to be identified unknown men stormed the school, removed its main gate and do away with them.
