66 Hearty Cheers To Dr. Julia Fortune-Johnson As She Celebrates Her Birthday Today ~Omonaijablog

Today March 29th 2021, is the birthday of a genuine woman of God, lifelong scholar, educator, philanthropist, entrepreneur, business leader, author, wife, mother, Chief, Pastor and Dr. Julia Fortune-Johnson (Nee Fagbenro).

One could wax poetic regarding all that this Godly and virtuous woman born on the 29th of March, 1955 has achieved.

Born and raised in Lagos to a Christian family her early education was completed at Mount Carmel Convent School, Lagos; Babalola Memorial Girls Grammar School (Boarding School), Ilesha; and Lagos Anglican Girls Grammar School, Lagos. From there Julia attended Federal Government College, Odogbolu; then completed her Nigerian education at the University of Ibadan graduating with honors for Bachelor of Arts degrees in Education and Theater Arts.

Taking advantage of the opportunity to continue her education abroad Julia traveled to US in 1980 to attend San Jose State University graduating with a Masters in Educational Technology. Later in 2012, she graduated from University of Maryland’s University College with a Master of Science degree in Healthcare Administration.

Always the entrepreneur, Julia started and helmed two companies, one multinational, to financial success. Having Christ centered in her life, her heart went out to African immigrants in the San Francisco Bay Area who were brilliant but underemployed. After witnessing this situation she began employing these African immigrants to work in her companies allowing them better, more satisfied work and financial success as well.

In 2007 Julia suffered a major setback when she was diagnosed with an advanced breast cancer that later metastasized to other parts of her body. She no longer calls herself a survivor but a “conqueror” - completely made whole with the blood of Jesus.
Relying on Christ and the prayers of friends and family she endured a major operation and several reconstructive surgeries and more operations.

Having survived this ordeal she was determined to find the root source of her cancer and not only change her life for the better but to educate others giving them the opportunity to change their lives and to prevent this disease from attacking them. This episode of her life not only drew her closer to God it motivated her to start down the road of giving back to her community. This journey included regularly preparing meals to feed the homeless, becoming an advocate and global ambassador with the American Cancer Society, and after extensive research, authored “Chronicles of a Cancer Survivor: If I only knew then what I know now”.

In 2017 Julia and her husband were installed as Chiefs for the Eti-Oni community in Osun State. Her official title is Yeye Aare Soboluju of Eti-Oni and her husband, Aare Soboluju of Eti-Oni. They were installed in the Anglican Church in Eti-Oni, the same church that the King - Oba Dokun Thompson, the Olooni of Eti-Oni was coronated as Oba. This makes the Oba the first king in Nigeria to be coronated in a Christian Church.

On the 28th of February 2019, Julia was conferred with an Honorary Doctorate Degree from WACOMBS Theological Seminary (a duly registered, recognized body, that has been accredited by relevant accrediting institutions, also affiliated with the Dept of Religious Studies of a government approved and recognized institution, Joseph Ayo Babalola University).

Julia is happily married to her very supportive Christian husband, Chief Babawale Jay Johnson, and blessed with six very accomplished children including a life coach entrepreneur, a medical doctor, a family therapist and counselor, a communications specialist, and a Biological Engineer. She has two grandsons.

Her son Samuel Gbadebo is a certified professional coach, motivational speaker and entrepreneur with a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences. As CEO of Evolve Your Success Transformational Programs his coaching and training company is focused on supporting individual pharmaceutical sales representatives and pharmaceutical organizations.
(A woman with an uncommon GRACE and love for God - Extracted from her Biography)

AN UNCOMMON BUSINESSWOMAN BLESSED WITH A HEART OF GOLD: From an early age Bishop-Elect Dr. Julia Fortune was excited and eager to attend church. She exclusively attended Christian schools until she reached college where she attended Federal Government College - Odogbolu, Ogun state. From there she was accepted to the prestigious University of Ibadan where she received her 1st degree in Education and Theater Arts. After completing the NYSC, she accepted the invitation to study a Master’s Degree in Educational Technology at San Jose State University in San Jose, California, USA. After her graduation, she worked with Memorex Corporation and was trained as a Systems Analyst transferring her technological skills to succeed in that endeavor. She later founded a
compliance testing engineering company in the San Francisco Bay area of California with satellite offices in Prince Fredrick, Maryland, USA, and Frankfurt, Germany where in the following 16 years, through her managerial skills and business acumen, she built the company into a multimillion dollar (USD), multinational success, all the while becoming a mother 4 times. Selling the company in the late 90’s due to a lifestyle change, allowed her to take a break to work with Microsoft Corporation as a full time consultant for almost 5 years but as a strong woman with “Entrepreneurial mindset” she returned back to the world of business to create, build, lead, and focus on other profitable business ventures with the latest being the Executive Chairman of Jukes Consults, Ltd., an international financial consultancy with a focus on wealth creation and success for clients with Eco-Humanitarian business models.

A WOMAN WITH UNCOMMON PASSION: Although she has known about Jesus from a young age, it was not until 1984 that she fully embraced the Lord’s sovereignty, accepted Him as her Savior, and was baptized. Since then, her walk with the Lord has been a strong one. Always a scholar, teachable and an eager learner, she enrolled in Zoe Ministries school of Prophets in the late 90s and spent 4 years learning the Bible; ministry of the Word, ministry of prayers, ministerial ethics, prophetic and revelatory teachings, and she leaned heavily on the Lord’s strength while dealing  in 2007 having been dealt the blow of a cancer diagnosis. With her strong character coupled with the Lord’s Grace, love and guidance she overcame the disease and emerged victorious and cancer free. Heeding the call of the Lord and to repay those who stood by her through this ordeal, she agreed to host a church plant in her home which is now a full-fledged thriving church in the Northern California community of Suisun City. During this health challenge, rather than focusing on the disease, she prayed and asked the Lord to refocus her attention to find solutions through scholarly journals and peer reviewed articles. Encouraged by this research, she not only returned back to school and obtained a Master’s of Science in Healthcare from University of Maryland University College (now known as University of Maryland Global Campus), but she also wrote a book about her experiences, “Chronicles of a Cancer Survivor: If I Only Knew Then What I Know Now”.

As a celebrated author, she returned to Lagos in 2012 to launch her book, “Chronicles of a Cancer Survivor: If I Only Knew Then What I Know Now” and knew right then that helping Nigeria was another calling from the Lord. She started the Total Body Wellness Foundation in 2012 with the aim of bringing health and cancer awareness to her fellow Nigerians. She provided free education on cancer and testing to the less privileged in Surulere and around other areas of Lagos State. She explains, “I have used this foundation to provide education on cancer and chronic diseases all the way to the palace of the paramount King of Badagry providing free education on basic hygiene, health maintenance and cancer and chronic diseases screenings with the equipment that I brought from the US. This is my way of giving back to the society in the area of health, partnering with a medical doctor with a successful practice on the Lagos Island as the Executive Chairman of the Foundation.” Seeing her passion to bring health education to the masses in Nigeria, she was approached by two Nigerian newspapers who provided  her with one year contracts for her own columns to write weekly articles on health, diseases, and natural health remedies. In the US, she continues to serve as an Ambassador/Adocate on cancer research with a reputable cancer organization.

A WOMAN WITH UNCOMMON COMPASSION: While still acknowledging the life-threatening possibilities of the disease she refused the “traditional” medical treatments of radiation and chemotherapy, instead opting for surgery and immersing herself in homeopathic and naturopathic treatments, allowing her to keep her strength and uncommon compassion alive. Because of these treatments she was able to turn her attention to providing food and blankets on a monthly basis to the less privileged and homeless in the East Bay communities of Northern California at her own expense and without any assistance from any government or church entity. She also became interested in the often-neglected Christian ministries to the widows, shut-ins, and prisons, leading those ministerial efforts in her church. While guiding her own children to successful careers, she often used her teaching skills to counsel young Nigerians in the diaspora guiding them to the path of their highest potential.

A WOMAN WITH UNCOMMON ABILITIES: She has affiliations with many Pentecostal and non-Denominational churches in the countries she has lived in namely the USA, Germany and Nigeria. Splitting her time between the US and Nigeria allowed Rev. Dr. Julia to attend The Overcomer’s Revival International Church (TORIC) in Surulere, and online, where she was quickly noticed for her Bible acumen and the love of God. Achieving a lifelong dream, she was ordained at TORIC as a Pastor in 2015 and 4 years later a Reverend. She continued to deliver sermons, prayers and counseling on social media while continuing to learn from TORIC Bible Institute under the leadership of the General Overseer. She received a Doctorate award from WACOMBS, and currently a post graduate student of WACOMBS and TGSAT. She is the WACOMBS NATIONAL ECONOMIC PLATFORM CHAIRPERSON.

Her current ministry “Julia Fortune Global Outreach Ministry” is scheduled to begin operational in the 3rd Quarter of 2021 with the following goals and objectives:

1. To offer humanitarian services to the less privileged members of the society
2. To offer rehabilitation services to the less privileged worldwide
3. To offer reliable job skills and opportunities to the less privileged in order to bring them out of poverty.
In 2011 she again heeded the call of the Lord and married her husband, Chief Jay Johnson, a godly and supportive Caucasian man. Chief Johnson is a retired Traffic Engineer and US Navy veteran who holds degrees in Business, Engineering, and Divinity. Chief Johnson has had the pleasure to live in Nigeria for over two years and has grown to love the Nigerian people and culture, although he now resides in Corpus Christi, Texas with his beautiful wife, Bishop-Elect Dr. Julia Fortune. They are blessed with six adult children.
