The past 48 hours has been uneasy for most families in Nigeria. Political firmerment, media and financial institutions were all affected and thrown into mourning of one of their very reliable and dependable hands.
Lagos State, the epicenter of novel coronavirus pandemic was the most affected as the State lost three prominent people in the space of 48 hours.

Starting from Sunday, June 14, 2020 it's been news of the death of one important personality or the other in the state. In as much as their death were just few out of many that have died in the course of the week, Nigerians were mostly touched because they were influential in their various endeavours.

First on the list was one of the top newscasters and the popular face of African Independent Television (AIT) Nkiruka Chinasa Udom.

According to a source, Nkiruka died on Sunday night at a private hospital in Lagos after unsuccessful surgery. Although, details of her medical complications that resulted to her death was still sketchy, she was however, said to have died hours after the said surgery.

A Mass Communications Graduate from the Institute of Management and Technology Enugu and a member of Chris Oyakhilome's Christ Embassy, where she also worked before joining DAAR Communications PLC where she started as a news reporter.

Udom until her death was a major newscaster and entertainment correspondent with the pioneer independently owned African television station, AIT.

As if that was not enough, a financial inclusion company,

Before his death, he was the Deputy Head of Corporate Communications in Guaranty Trust Bank, Lagos.

Although, the cause of his death was not revealed, sources confirmed to me that Mr. Idoko Negedu who was said to have been ill for sometimes could not recover from his sickness. His death however was not pronounced openly but, a memorial website, http://www.forevermissed.com, was opened in his honour by his friends.

The message on the website reads,
"This memorial website was created in memory of our loved one, Idoko Negedu 40 years old , born on July 25, 1979 and passed away on June 14, 2020. We will remember him forever...."

These two deaths however, paved way for the mothers of all mourning in Lagos State since Coronavirus pandemic started months ago. As in the early hours of Monday June 15, 2020, news about the shocking death of Senator Sikiru Bayo Osinowo, who is currently representing Lagos East at the National Assembly filtered in.

Senator Osinowo, was said to have died as a result of complications from Coronavirus.  Confirming this, notable journalist who is equally the Head of Programs at Television Continental, TVC, Mr.  Babajide Otitoju, confirmed that the Senator who has represented Kosofe Constituency 1 in Lagos House of Assembly for 16 before being elected to represent Lagos East at the Senate level, died of Coronavirus.
