Abdulmumini Danga's Alleged Rape Imbroglio: Remember Dakolo Vs Fatoyinbo's Saga? ~ Omonaijablog

For some weeks now, story of an alleged rape of a young lady identified as Elizabeth Oyeniyi by the Kogi State Commissioner of Water Resources, Abdulmumini Danga, a notable loyalist of Governor Yahyah Bello has been in the news.

Many individuals and groups have condemned the act willfully without full knowledge of what actually transpired using their social media handles and conventional media to cast aspersions to the young and energetic politician.

This was the same way Busola Dakolo accused Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo the Senior Pastor of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, COZA. Just like Elizabeth, Busola had accused Pastor Fatoyinbo of rape in 2011, but after weeks, months of judicial tussle between the two celebrities, the Court fines Busola Dakolo N1m, dismisses case against Fatoyinbo.

Justice Musa who delivered the judgement said that the case was aimed more at cruelty than obtaining justice. And aside the costs of N1m against Busola Dakolo the Court also held that the fine should have been 10 times more because the court's time was wasted.

Now, Elizabeth in her narrative said when she saw a photo of the commissioner distributing relief materials for Covid-19, she made a post on social media asking him to lend a helping hand to his sister who is her friend.

The lady in a viral video later alleged the Commissioner of raping and forcing her to retract earlier statement on tape. No doubt, rape is a grievous offence and punishable under Nigeria Criminal Code. Also, Governor Yahaya Bello will never condone any act of criminality in his government and he has ordered full investigation of the allegations.

Nevertheless, without mincing words, the people are calling for suspension of Abdulmumini Danga over allegations yet to be proven in the court or empirically analysed in the court of public opinion.

To these sets of people, once they heard, conviction follows but we should not forget in a hurry that, In the past, some people have framed up allegations such as rape to bring political office holders, celebrities and others down in their various careers and human endeavors.

Therefore, the citizens, human rights advocate, opposition elements and others calling for Danga’s should be patient enough to allow due process as well as give Police opportunity to investigate the allegations.

Frankly speaking, some people calling for Danga’s suspension and trending the stories are not out to get justice for the innocent but dent image of New Administration in Kogi state.

Just like the eventual results of the case between Pastor Fatoyinbo of COZA and Busola Dakolo.

In attempting to unravel the mystery behind the case, series Of unanswered questions will be provided, questions like,

1. Why is it that weeks after the viral video nobody is talking about medical report to confirm the rape allegation?,

2. What happened to the CCT Footage of the hotel where the incident reportedly happened,?

3. Who were the witnesses that saw her when she was been wisked away in a vehicle that has anything to do with Abdumimini Danga?

We must therefore critically analyse the following posers now before she finds herself in another Busola Dakolo's mess.

What if after running negative commentaries based on an alleged rape that never happened she's found culpable and had a heavy fine place on her on risks jail term?

What if you heard that Elizabeth had refused to go give her statement to the police ever since the police got involved?

Why do you think the SDP Governorship candidate during the last election in Kogi, Natasha, is interested in the case?

What  if you later realized she had deceived the girl into giving fabricated testimonies which they can’t substantiate now?

More questions are surely begging for answers...

  1. Rape is bad and unacceptable but accusing men of rape without evidence can trigger a chain of reactions that may become unpalatable.
