Hot Gist! How Ambode’s Former CPS, Habib Haruna’s Arrogant Attitude Sent His Principal To Political Oblivion

Human beings are created with different characters and approaches toward life. Many see this entire world as a mere market where they visit temporary before returning to the individual homes while some others see the world as their permanent abode. The attitude or behaviour of a person reflects his view about the universe.

However, some people live simple lives devoid of pride, ego and showmanship while others are just simply arrogant and full of themselves.

One man who falls in the latter category is the former Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the historic one-term governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode in the person of Habib Haruna.

The former Editor of Daily Independent Newspaper, immediately on resumption of office as the CPS grew a strange wing flying above his peers and dominating them with outright ego and pride. Haruna turned himself to a semi-god at his office tucked in the Press Centre at the Lagos.

The once-upon-a-time writer suddenly became inaccessible although visible but never allowed every guest; most especially his colleagues from the media have easy access to him. Haruna is also not known to have worked assiduously for his principal in the area of cleaning up the governor’s image amongst several scandalous and detrimental stories.

This was obvious when the many accusations against the governor were brought to public notice. Haruna did little or nothing to rebrand Ambode during this very challenging period.

The inability of Haruna to so his job as the defender of the governor against media attacks and lashes most especially in the battle against Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu debacle. Haruna practically ignored the calls for Ambode’s impeachment and banishment from the APC.

It became crystal clear that Haruna has lost grip of the rudiments of being a CPS and this contributed in no small ensure to the inability of Ambode to secure a second term ticket. Haruna’s approach to his official duties is a sad development that has never being experienced in Lagos politics since the creation of the state.

Additionally, many pen pushing friends of Haruna spoke about their unforgettable yet unpalatable contact with him. Some of them affirmed that Haruna has listening ears to their yearnings let alone attending to them. This is contrary to the liberal approach devised by his predecessors.

Now that his boss, Akinwunmi Abode has been removed was denied a return to Alausa, denied Ministerial position and probably may have been lured into his political oblivion, one wonders if Haruna will make a return into the media world.
