Popular Nigerian music producer and gospel singer, Yinka Ayefele,
(MON), who is the owner and the Chief Executive Officer of Fresh FM in Ibadan,
Oyo State and Abeokuta, Ogun State is talented even with his condition. The
lovable media entrepreneur, who was recently appointed as an Ambassador for a
Land and Property Development Agency in Lagos, shared some of his most hidden
secrets with SHABA GBENGA recently in Lagos…
How do you feel being one of the ambassadors of a big property
developers like Adron Homes?
I feel so happy because ever
since I joined them as an ambassador I have seen a lot of advantages being part
of them, I’ve met a lot of people, many Nigerians and apart from that, I now
own my own landed property in Ibadan.
What impact do you think you are going to make?
I will be impacting with my music
and at the same time as a media person, I have three Radio stations in South
Western part of the country so, with all these, I will definitely impact.
Gradually climbing the ladder of prominent media houses owners in
Nigeria, how does this make you feel?
Well, I think it’s a great
opportunity to have media houses in the country and I think it’s a really great
privilege to part of these owners.
Have you ever had any reason to regret being a media practitioner and
entertainer?
No reason at all. Even before I
have my own media outfit, I’ve been a journalist, a media person because, I’ve
been working with the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, (FRCN), even before
the accident that turned me into a musician, so there is no reason for regret
and I’ve never regretted being a broadcaster or a media person.
What are some of your greatest moments?
Whenever I am on stage and seeing
people appreciating me and my music despite what I’m passing through is my
greatest moment.
Have you ever considered being a politician?
No. ‘Afobaje kii j’oba’ (A king
maker doesn’t struggle to become a king). I can’t be a politician. I am a media
person. If I become a politician I might be partial. Being who I am today I
think is much better because I will be able to balance whatever story we are
reporting.
What of if you are appointed to work with a politician as a media Aide
or Adviser?
Well, I will tell you that I am
not just a journalist now. I am a proprietor and a CEO of Radio stations, that
wise, I don’t see myself taking up any appointment. I can’t take any
appointment.
People see Lagos as the headquarters of activities in Nigeria, have you
considered establishing a radio station in Lagos?
Well. My station is beaming to
Lagos already. I have a station in Abeokuta, Ogun State, 107.9. We are
transmitting from Ogun state but, at the same time, we cover virtually every
parts of Lagos. So, we are in Lagos already.
Finally, what are you plans for this year?
Well I don’t plan, God plans for
me. I just pray that God should lead my footsteps.
