....as the Nigerian Police organises stakeholders meeting in Amuwo Odofin Local Government.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Mr. Edgar Imohimi was the guest speaker at a security meeting organised to intimate the public about the crime statistics within the State and get first hand insights from residents on the security issues in Area E command.
Mr. Imohimi gave an overview of his scorecard for the first half of 2018 which has seen crime rate in the State drop by 17% in comparison to last year. Stating that community engagement played a vital role in effective policing.
A targeted approach has been carried out by the police force to arrest the activities of drug dealers, clampdown on drugs and halt the proliferation of arms in the State. With the support of the Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, a special court will be set up to try both the drug peddlers and users. This combined approach should result in a significant drop in the crime rate.
He thanked community members for their support and encouraged them to continue to see the police as their friends. To further instill confidence in the general public and build trust between the citizens and the police force. A dedicated citizens complaint hot center lines have been opened to lodge complaints and undue harassment by any member of the police force.
Dignitaries invited to the high table were the Deputy Commissioner of Police SCID command Panti, the immediate past Local Government Chairman and House of Reps aspirant for Amuwo Odofin Federal constituency Comrade Ayodele Adewale, the Executive Chairman of Oriade LCDA Honourable Ramota, the Area E Commander ACP Yusuf Ajape, the D.P.O and others.
